We come across various situations in day-to-day life where we need to know how to multiply two decimals. Let us now learn the multiplication of two decimal numbers.

Let us first multiply- 0.1 × 0.1

0.1 means one part of 10 parts. This is represented as 1/10 using fractions

and pictorially in Fig.1.

Thus, 0.1 × 0.1 = 1/10×1/10 which means 1/10 of 1/10. So here we are

the 10th part of 1/10 . Thus, we divide 1/10into 10 equal parts and
