An Intellectual Property Rights is a term referring to the legal property rights of a person over his/her creatione both artistic and commercial. These laws ensure that the creator's hard, work is safe and protected fromunauthorised copying and piracy.
๛Distinguish between Trademark and Patent
Trademark: It is a logo/symbol which is printed on business commodities to make it exclusive. The validity period for a trademark is seven years and it can be renewed Patent: It is a licence issued by a government authority granting the sole right, valid for a perlod of time, to exclude others from making, using, or selling an invention. It is concerned with the design and algorithm of the product rather than the entire product.
๛What is Copyright?
A copyright is a right granted by law to the creator for an original work. Here, the rights regarding creating a copy of any product are reserved by the author or the company, Legal action can be taken if someone copies the work without the permission of the author or the organisation. The copyright includes software, artisticand literary creations, such as novels, plays, poems, musical compositions, and architectural designs, etc. The copyright of a work lasts for more than seventy years, even after the death of its author.

๛Explain any two types of plagiarism.
The two types of plagiarism are:
Direct Plagiarism: When the user coples the work of another person word to word, without acknowledging the
original author or quoting the text.
Self-Plagiarism: When the text is used by the user in more than one context. In this type of plagiarism, the reader is made to believe that the text is original in every context that it is used in.

Software Piracy refers to theft of software through illegal copying of genuine programs or counterfeiting andcirculation of products which are duplicate copies of the original.
What do you mean by Digital divide?
The rise of ICT has generated a digital gap between people with extensive use of the Internet (front runners and those who have no access to modern technology (laggards). This gap is referred to as Digital divide.
๛Describe two types of Software Piracy.
Two types of software piracy are:
A. Softlifting which refers to purchasing a single licenced copy of software and loading it onto several computers contrary to the licence terms. For example, sharing software with friends, co-workers, and others.
B. Online Uploading and Downloading which means making unauthorised copies of copyrighted software available to the end users of the Internet.
